Michael Z. Wechsler, Writer/Director -- SLAVES OF HOLLYWOOD, Mr.Wechsler's first independent feature film, is a comedy that was made in 1999. Even without major stars or publicity, the film garnered many
accolades including winning 2 international festivals for Best Film. A celebrated hit at over 35 film festivals worldwide, it was picked up for theatrical distribution in Los Angeles and New York and now available on DVD in video stores and on the Web. The film received a glowing review from the head critic of The Los Angeles Times. The film had over 80
speaking roles, was very character-driven, and came in on a $600,000 budget.
After moving to Los Angeles to pursue his childhood dream, Wechsler worked in a variety of capacities to gain an understanding of the film business. From his experiences in the trenches of a talent agency (I.C.M) to the high-powered offices on the Sony Studios lot, he learned first hand what it was like to be a gopher/grunt in Hollywood. Two years into working in development at children illustrator Maurice Sendak's company, "Wild Things Productions," Michael pooled all his experiences in the
